ABOUT ME

Maansi Srivastava is a documentary photographer and photo editor focusing on widespread social issues through a lens of family and community. She is a recent graduate from George Washington University, where she received a BFA in Photojournalism and minored in Criminal Justice.

While in school, Maansi completed a year-long photo editing internship at AARP. She was given the opportunity to conduct photo research, commission photographers, and make images for its publications. She also spent six months as a reporting intern at D.C. Witness, a local news organization that covers criminal proceedings at D.C. Superior Court.

Shortly after graduating, Maansi completed a photo internship at the Washington Post. She had the opportunity to work on daily and longer term photo assignments in a fast-paced newsroom environment. This fall, she joined the Visuals team at NPR as a contract assistant editor. In this role, Maansi has been able to help commission and interview visual artists and take on photo assignments.

Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, NPR, Rolling Stone, AARP, StopMotion DC, and GW Today. She has also assisted other photographers with cover photoshoots, commercial, and editorial assignments.

Maansi's photographs have been awarded by College Photographer of the Year, Women Photojournalists of Washington, and the Curious Society. During her senior year, she joined the 2021 Eddie Adams Workshop class. Maansi has made two photo-based zines: The Place We Call Home and Roots Hanging From the Banyan Tree, which will be available to order this winter.
